Most of us would look at a solid Cape Solander ‘Ours’ barrel breaking over a rocky ledge and run the other way. Shannon isn’t like most 17 year old girls. She suits up in her 4/3 wetty, grabs the 7D MII and jumps straight in the pit to shoot one of her favourite surfers, Sally Fitzgibbons deep in a dredging slabby barrel, one of the first women to surf the notorious wave in Sydney. We can also make the claim here the Shannon is the first girl to shoot this wave from the water, a task that is not for the fainthearted.
This talented 17 year old out of Cronulla, Australia is making a big name for herself already with the cover shot of the newest womens surf mag ‘Joyce‘, which was the print media partner at the recent Sydney International Beach Fest in Cronulla. Shannon held a stall in the marketplace during the event, selling out of fresh prints within hours. She has been featured in Tracks Magazine and a variety of news outlets for her work already and is really only just getting started.
When asked whats on the cards for the next year Shannon tells us she’s in the market for a jet-ski, a few trips up and down the east coast of Australia as well as visiting a few notable waves overseas. This grom is definitely one to watch in the near future. Might be worth getting your hands on a Glasson print now before they skyrocket!
