Here at Girl Surf Network we are committed to providing a solid platform for all things female surfing, which includes surf history. There are lots of females out there that have pioneered surfing in their local area and around the world. There are some great stories floating around out there and we want to hear them! If you have any surf history articles and/or pictures that you’d like to share, please shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sandra English is just one of our contributing ladies. She is one of Australia’s surfing legends. Born in 1963 in Sydney, Sandy grew up on the Sydney Northern Beaches and surfed with her older brothers in her younger years. Sandy then moved into competitions in the 1970′s and 1980′s, competing against the likes of Pam Burridge, Jenny Gill and Toni Sawyer. Sandy has years of travel and competitions under her belt. In 2014 Sandy won her 13th Australian Surfing Title making her the first person ever to do so. Sandy is also the owner of a successful surf school on the NSW Central Coast and continues to teach, travel and surf herself.
Sandy has come on board with Girl Surf Network, helping us keep records on the pioneers of female surfing through the 60′s, 70′s, 80′s, 90′s onwards. Stay tuned for some cheeky stories from this eternal grommet.
